Doing it right: Setting Goals

Now that summer is over and fall is upon us, productivity is slowly finding its way back into my life. This can only mean one thing, it is time to get serious and set some goals.
This can seem like a tedious and sometimes daunting task, but once you get over that initial mind block, goal setting can be extremely rewarding

It is good to think about goals in terms of categories. This will just allow your thought process to be more organized and help to reduce and overwhelming feeling that can arise.

Lets break it down. I use these categories as I find they hit all aspects of my life and allow for a nice balance.  In no specific order, as all are equally important.
*Health & Fitness

*Wealth & Material things

*Relationships

*Living Environment

*Passion & Creativity

*Spirituality

*Personal Growth

Think about what you want for all of the categories in both the short and long term. Making sure your short term goals compliment your long term desires. It is important to be realistic but also optimistic.

I re-analyse my goals at the start of every month to see where I am currently at and where I would like to be. Sometimes goals change and talking the time at the first of the month is a nice exercise to physically see the changes and move forward with them. This is also I good time to discover new desires and goals.

Leaving notes around your house or little reminders in your agenda is another great way to keep your mind aware of what you are working towards.

Last but not least, visualize. It is the best thing you can do as it makes the dream real. Say one of your goals is to live in a spacious home or to be confident in a bikini, if you can physically picture yourself at the end result your thoughts and actions will become more aligned.

If you are finding you are having a mental block at this point [as I often have] FAKE IT TILL YOU MAKE IT. Yes it is true! put these positive thoughts of achieving your goals in your mind and you will eventual start to see a shift in your mentality. Start small, once a day say "I will be confident in my bikini" and with a gradual increase day by day it will become real.

With patients and a little hard work goals can really help to change your life for the better. They give you drive, motivation and very often a sense of purpose.
So go set some goals & dream big!
