Now, I know that some days we just don't have time to have a nice relaxing morning. My job requires me to be at work by 7:30 and sitting down to a cup of tea and a full breakfast is just not an option. {I love myself a good sleep} . Although I often choose sleep over a proper morning routine I do believe that starting your day off right [in all aspects] is key!
So here is my "doing it right" for mornings check list:
1) Food [nutritious and filling]. Making sure that the first thing you put in your body is something that is going to fill you and give yourself the nutrients you need. In the morning when time is precious the first thing I do is wake up is head down to the kitchen and prep my food. I don't eat it then, but this way when I am heading out the door it is right there for me to grab and go. I usually keep my morning meals pretty simple { a smoothie or fruit with a glass of Boathouse green juice are my current favourites}. I keep my more extravagant meals to the days I have the time and make and enjoy them.
2) Hydrate. Drink up! Start the day with a big glass of water. Hydration is ever so important. Start early and keep going all day.
3) Hygiene. Make sure you are all clean and fresh. Nothing is worse then feeling gross all day long. A quick wipe or wash in the AM can make all the difference.
4) Appearance. There is a saying that my mom has always said to me that I believe is really true! "Look good, feel good" Everyday I try my best to make the time to at least do basic makeup and hair. and when I have the option, putting on an outfit I love and feel good in. It's not so much about how other people see you but how you feel yourself. When I take the time to look and feel good, I am more confident and feel more comfortable in my own skin.
5) Vitamins. Just take them! I notice such a difference when my body is receiving these extra benefits. Having your vits in the morning when you eat is so easy and then it is done, you don't have to worry about it for the rest if the day.
6) Smile. Start the day off on a good note. meditate, read some blogs, put on a good song. Just do something that is going to make you happy :) {I love finding a good 8tracks playlist and getting ready to it}
7) Time. To finish off this little post I will address the biggest theme mentioned throughout my ever so important morning notes. Time, time is a precious thing in the early hours of the day {I KNOW} but there still needs to be an allotted amount you give yourself to get ready and get things going! Running out the door rushed it a horrible way to start your day and if you are anything like me, that energy will follow you around for hours to come. It is best to keep calm and give yourself the extra 5 or 15. You don't need to be waking up hours before you need to but it also isn't a good idea to wake up 15 before you need to be out the door.
Just think about it. How are your current mornings looking? Do you always leave the house with a positive attitude? or do you not ever have time to realize what your attitude is? These are my tricks that work for me, but if something needs to change try some out and figure out what you like and what you can do to optimize your mornings to their full potential.
Try it out. let me know. Share your morning routine :)
with love.
Kelsey Marie.
